A fond farewell to Elizabeth Taylor

I know, it’s been over a month since my last post!  And that was on Valentines Day.  Life just has it’s way of getting in the way sometimes, doesn’t it?  Today was an incredibly busy day, and I never even checked my email, Twitter, Facebook or news feeds. Sometimes I wonder how that is possible this day and age.

But when I finally did check the news, I was saddened to see that the extraordinary Elizabeth Taylor had passed away.  Not only was she a true icon and stunning beauty, but I think we all loved her because she wasn’t perfect. She also never tried nor pretended to be.  She started her career at a very young age, and it spanned over 50 films and seven decades.  While some may scoff at her eight marriages, I have to hand it to her – she never gave up on love.  It kicked her in the ass numerous times, but she kept dusting herself off and trying again.  That takes guts.  That takes a strong belief that if you give love, you will receive it. This may be why she dedicated herself to countless charities and causes, the most well known being helping to found amfAR (American Foundation for AIDS Research).

I guess it’s no surprise that her heart finally gave out. It went through a lot in 79 years. Through it all, no matter how battered and bruised her heart became, she kept it open and shared it with others.  So now, as we all remember Elizabeth for being a true Hollywood icon, I wish her heart a peaceful and well-deserved rest.
