Daily Shoe-topia: For the Pirates Opening Day, Alexander McQueen heels

Alexander McQueen heels. Available at Zappos.com

Another sign of spring is here.  It’s Opening Day for Major League Baseball!  Well actually, Opening Day was yesterday, but my favorite team – the Pittsburgh Pirates – start their season today.  We Pirates fans have endured 19 losing seasons, but nevertheless, we love watching the young talent, and the ballpark in Pittsburgh is arguably the most beautiful in the country.   It’s certainly one of the cheapest (for about $20, you’re right behind home plate and enjoying $2.25 hot dogs)!  I faithfully follow the Pirates all year, win or lose.  So to celebrate a new season in style, I chose this pair by Alexander McQueen.

If the city of Pittsburgh had a pair of high heels designed for it, this is what it would look like.  Black and yellow, with a touch of sportiness.  The elastic band is useful for both base running and grabbing beers between innings.  They’re a bit extreme, I know, and with a $725 price tag, I think they’re worth more than some of the Pirates’ roster.  But it’s Friday, so we can have some fun, and it’s time to cheer for a new season.  Let’s Go Bucs!
